MANCHESTER, England (AP) - Zlatan Ibrahimovic has an unfinished business at Manchester United.
The Swedish striker signed another one-year contract with United on Thursday and returned to the English club, which released him in the summer when he recovered from a serious knee injury.
"I'm back to finish what I started," said Ibrahimovic.
Ibrahimovic, 35, suffered the injury in a quarter-final of the Europa League against Anderlecht in April, without him from the last month of the season. He was on crutches during the victory of United against Ajax in the finals of the Europa League in Stockholm.
He was rehabilitated in the summer during the summer and showed enough positive signs in his recovery to convince the club that he is worth a new contract.
United did not say when Ibrahimovic should return to action, although manager José Mourinho said the striker "will be important in the second half of the season."
On Sunday Ibrahimovic wrote a video on Instagram himself kickboxes, in which he threw a hard punching bag with both legs. Next to the video was a message: "What knee?"
"I feel good, hard work," Ibrahimovic said in an interview with ESPN released on Thursday. "I have not had a day since the injury, because I wanted to continue to play on the top level, because you have to build the knee ... I did not want to return what I was not."
"I'm not finished, I'll decide when I'm done."
Ibrahimovic said he'll take my time to make sure I'm ready.
Ibrahimovic is the number 10 T-shirt of club captain, Wayne Rooney, who joined Everton in the offseason.
It seemed that United had gone from Ibrahimovic by signing Romelu Lukaku for 75 million pounds (then 97 million dollars) from Everton in July.
Lukaku began his Old Trafford career by scoring four goals in his first three competitions. But there will soon be a competition in the attack of a player who scored for the last season of the United last season with 28 goals in 46 appearances, including a double in a 3-2 win over Southampton in the final of the English Ligapokal.
"We are excited about Zlatan on the way to recovery," said Mourinho, "and we are delighted to have ambition and experience with us."
