Former England boss Roy Hodgson was appointed Crystal Palace's new director for a two-year deal.
Hodgson replaced Frank de Boer, who was dismissed on Monday after 77 days and five games.
The 70-year-old man has been out of operation since his resignation as head of England after the defeat of Israel in the last stage of the euro 2016.
He will play the Premier League game against Southampton on Saturday at Selhurst Park.
Hodgson, who began his career in the Palace, previously managed Blackburn, Fulham, Liverpool and West Brom in the Premier League.
"It is very much the club of my childhood and it is very gratifying to be here at different times, as a manager in a club I have always loved and admired with enormous potential," he said.
