Five Keys to Sensible Relaxation

Increased stress levels can make relaxation a dissipating dream. Is it inevitable that a productive life is finally filled with stress and anxiety? If you feel this is happening to you, what can you do to relax?

Balance can be the hardest thing for a productive person with a demanding schedule. Taking time to relearn the art of relaxation can really boost your energy and increase your sense of enjoyment.

To relax, we need to change our attention

Stress and anxiety usually come from being focused on the future. There is nothing wrong with looking to the future, but relaxation is happening in the here and now. It is very difficult to worry about this important meeting next week and feel relaxed and comfortable at the same time. Your body can be in a relaxed and in a comfortable position, but where is your head?

When your mind is not relaxed and enjoys the moment, it's not a real relaxation! Your body could rely on physical exertion, but the mind is still crushing and it's not very refreshing.

5 keys of significant relaxation

1) Concentrate here and now. Let your mind and body be in the same place at the same time as in "Be Here Now". In a world that seems to move at the speed of the chain, this can be very difficult. It requires the absence of any form of anxiety and anticipation related to the past or the future. Without consciousness of yesterday or of tomorrow, there is no feeling of anxiety or regret. That's why an important key to true relaxation is to focus on the fun of the moment.

Have you ever noticed how certain environments are inherently more relaxing than others? This leads us to our next key:

2) Put yourself in a relaxing place. Is not that why we like to take a vacation? Putting some distance between us and the demands of everyday life makes it much easier to change our point of view. Of course, we can not always move when we feel the need for a bit of down time. But we can walk or sit outside as we open our hopes and direct our attention to our environment. Use your five senses to make you aware of when you let go of everything else.

There is another side of the relaxation that should not be neglected. Often, the most refreshing way to spend your free time is:

3) active relaxation. There is a wonderful resort community in central Oregon called Sunriver. They have more than thirty miles of paved bike trails that cross the pine forest and along the Deschutes River. You can park your car and forget it. When we are there, we prefer to walk or cycle wherever we go. Active relaxation means that your attention is right now. It is also a great time for conversation, which tends to turn around things you see along the way.

Now after a long walk or a bike ride, this could be more relaxing than some:

4) Hydrotherapy plus. I speak about twenty minutes in the hot tub with a glass of wine and the jets of water up. Every home we rented in Sunriver has had a private spa and has always greatly contributed to the value of relaxing. If you have one at home, do not ignore it. There is a high relaxation factor integrated into these small erasers.

One of the things that can cause regular relaxation in the dark is to put too much value on everything else. This leads to our next key:

5) Learn to value the trigger. Once you fully appreciate the important role and positive influence of relaxation, you will really appreciate it. Priorities are established according to the value we assign to the different aspects of our lives. When relaxation becomes a priority, we will make time and create the opportunity to relax so that we can restore and maintain the balance and harmony of our lives.

Here are two additional indications. Do not wear your watch and turn off your cell phone when you try to relax. These small electronic slave drivers can aspire the value as soon as your relaxation time. They are useful tools in their place, but know when to cut the cord.
